Methodology

Living in Germany as foreigners confronts us with a foreign language on a daily basis. We believe this gives us a better perspective on the difficulties an English learner might have during the learning process. In addition to this, it makes our classes worthwhile for our students because we understand perfectly what mistakes German speakers make, which false friends they have to deal with and which structures can´t be translated word-for-word into English. We know how we can help them improve their fluency and confidence in English.

The “English Weekends” methodology is, therefore, a combination of many different styles of teaching, including, but not limited to: theory vs. practice, pairs work, group work, individual exercises, common mistake correction and lecturing.

All of these are specifically planned into each seminar according to the needs of the participants. There is always a wide variety of methodology used in each individual seminar.

We also understand that different types of learners feel comfortable with different methodologies, which is why we don’t rely solely on one or two, in order that our participants have the best possible chance to learn.
